Nican Tlaca Nation: Our political views must be refined through historical research. Reality cannot be observed if we are historically blind. The conditions of our people today are part of a continuous pattern of historical colonial oppression. Whether we are trying to explain the assassinations of the 43 Mexican students, the mass incarceration of our men, the domestic and political abuse of our women, or the progress in places such as Venezuela and Bolivia, we must learn to see all this present day reality with the widest historical context that is possible. That way we will not fall into the trap of accepting the Mexican students as victims of class oppression, rather than colonial oppression. We will not believe the incarceration of our men is due to a innate predisposition toward crime. We will not presume that it is our inherent tradition to abuse our women, but rather a colonial tradition imposed on us. Finally, we will see the progress on our continent as steps toward our eventual total liberation from colonialism and white supremacy. We need the widest possible historical perspective in order to accurately read our ongoing colonised state. Las condiciones de hoy son parte de un modelo continuo de la opresión colonial histórica. Ya sea que estamos tratando de explicar los asesinatos de los 43 estudiantes mexicanos, el encarcelamiento de nuestros hombres, la violencia doméstica y política de nuestras mujeres, o el progreso en lugares como Venezuela y Bolivia, tenemos que aprender a ver todo la realidad en el presente con el contexto histórico más amplio que sea posible. De esa manera no vamos a aceptar que los estudiantes mexicanos cayeron como víctimas de la opresión de clases sociales, si no de la opresión colonial. No vamos a creer el encarcelamiento de nuestros hombres se debe a una predisposición innata hacia el crimen. No vamos a suponer que es nuestra tradición inherente a abusar de nuestras mujeres, sino más bien una tradición colonial que se nos impuso. Por último, vamos a ver el progreso en nuestro continente como pasos hacia nuestra liberación total del colonialismo y la supremacía blanca.
