Nick, knowing your love of comic books to movies and super hero - TopicsExpress

Nick, knowing your love of comic books to movies and super hero movies, I am leaving it to you to explain why it was necessary to reboot the Spider Man franchise so soon after the original debuted in 2002? Seriously, the last film of the original trilogy was released in 2007 and just five years later we had the first of the reboot series. Now, ten years after the release of the superb Spider Man 2 (2004) with the great Alfred Molina as Dr. Ock, we have the first sequel aptly titled The Amazing Spider Man 2 (2014) with Andrew Garfield back as Peter Parker/ Spider Man. Now lets be clear, I liked Tobey Maguire as Peter and Spider Man, he is a gifted actor and seemed at home in the part. This guy is a real actor, and its quite something for a genuinely gifted actor to portray such a role and make it work. So many consider it beneath them, however great actors with fine directors can make super hero films come to life. Consider the Batman franchise with Christopher Nolan at the helm and Christian Bale as the Dark Knight?? Terrific, beautifully acted with Heath Ledger winning an Oscar as The Joker in The Dark Knight (08). The Amazing Spider Man (2012) was for me nothing special, a lot of rehash of the original film, a lot of repetition, some nice chemistry between Garfield and Emma Stone, and I love Martin Sheen in anything. Garfield did not work for me as Spider Man nor Peter Parker, but he did for others, obviously. Nick, please, with all due respect, explain to me why we needed a Spider Man reboot so soon, other than the obvious of money. Not being a smart ass, not trying to put you on the spot or call you out, I am in earnest in every way. Tell me as a fan of super hero films (as am I) why we needed this?
