Nicola Evangelisti’s natural attraction towards scientific and cosmological themes oriented his artistic work towards a progressive conquer and redefinition of the physical space, in a continuous attempt to synthesize the natural order of things. An archeology of the future and futurity that, by breaking down the matter’s first cause with its theoretical premises, finds its explicative dimension and its dramatic peculiarity. The series of works “Chromocosmos” cuts straight into at least two of the great abundance arteries which are feeding the artist’s poetry: the philosophical and conceptual inquiry, propaedeutical to the real developing of a new space formulation. The real-time chromatic rotation exploits the three-colour digital process to cut through the fluctuating light, in the complexity of the space lattice, altering the spatial sensibility. The light, being matter and antimatter at the same time, for he extent of its flimsiness, intangibility, imperceptibility, with its natural tendency to expand and extend itself, is stopped in the groove traced by the artist and projected toward a dimension referable to the space general principles. In the visualization of the reality’s virtual dynamics a further and personal cosmical hypothesis is born. Through the fully non-Euclidean geometrical research and rebuilding of the original chaos, the intact essence of the spatial structure is found again: an unstable equilibrium constantly exposed to the uncertainty of elements, a mirror of evolutive forms that, after being crossed, lets one to visually spin an optical spiderweb of liquid, biomorphic constructions. The light, from being a means, a necessary medium to exalt the details, becomes subject and protagonist, a complete artwork in itself, capable of reestablishing distances and formulate questions; in its mirrored infinite dimensions, in the shadows, in its tonal shading an interweave of planes is consumed, creating a perspectives network, a synergy where the detail forestalls, prevails and contains the whole by whichit is made. The movement is centrifugal, centripetal and static altogether, the correspondences of cosmical analogies are supposing inquiries retraced even before having known them, fragmented up to the point of being a mislaying of preconscious memories left free to go back to the infinite.
