Nigeria: Giwas Faction Fail to Resume As Police Takes Over NFF By Jude Opara Abuja — Despitean order by a Jos High Court which last Friday restored the Chris Giwa led faction as the executive committee of the troubled Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the group was no where near the secretariat of the football house. Fierce looking armed policeman from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) effectively took control of the security of the federation demanding the mission of anybody going into the office. The policemen who arrived the NFF in three operational vehicles equally insisted in searching everyone going into the glasshouse including journalists. Many observers believe that the mission of the security operatives was to ensure that the fragile peace in the countrys football was maintained which also means that it may not be easy for any court bailiff to serve the NFF any injunction. Earlier yesterday morning, the first vice president of the Giwa led faction, Chief Obinna Ogba had in a radio programme monitored in Abuja hinted that they would be returning to the office on Monday (yesterday) in compliance with the said court ruling. Infact the policemen did not want to take any chances hence they, apart from taking control of action at the main entrance which the now confused NFF shares with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), also placed men at every floor of the secretariat. The Congress of the NFF had last weekend in Warri, Delta State sat despite the said court injunction which allegedly demanded that the winner of the controversial August 26 election, Chris Giwa and his team should take over the running of Nigerian football pending the determination of the substantive suit brought before it by the chairman of Ebonyi State FA. Chief Obinna Ogba and his Kogi State counterpart, Alhaji Yahaya Adams.
