Nigeria: Uch Calls for Understanding On Cervical Cancer Immunisation badan — Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Temitope Alonge, has stressed the importance of immunisation of the young girls between the ages 12 and 20 against cervical cancer. He said immunisation would help in saving them of the agony of having cervical cancer in future, and encouraged parents to immunise their daughters who ranged between the ages of 12 and 20 years now. Alonge spoke at UCH, Ibadan, during the celebration of a number of its cancer survivors as part of activities marking the 57th anniversary of the hospitals existence. He disclosed that the management of the hospital had put funds down to ensure that charity begins at home by allowing 18 women in the health care sector of the institution be given free cervical test at the Oyo State First Ladys ABC clinic in Ibadan. The CMD described cancer as the general terminology for a group of over 100 diseases characterised by abnormal and uncontrolled multiplication of abnormal cells leading to growth in most instances except in cancers involving blood cells.allafrica/stories/201411220139.html
