Nigeria under the current administration is working conscientiously to attain the millennium development goals (MDGs), a global benchmark officially established following the Millennium Summit of the United Nations (UN) in 2000. This was following the adoption of the United Nations Millennium Declaration.President Goodluck Jonathan stated this Wednesday before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting when he formally received an award presented by the Food Agricultural Organization (FAO), in recognition of the incumbent administration’s effort for reducing the number of people who are suffering from chronic hunger.The first goal of the MDG is the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger.
