Nigerian Prison Service Plans Mass Housing Scheme For Officers The Controller General of the Nigerian Prison Service, Mr. Zakari Ibrahim has promised that a new mass housing scheme is underway, to carter for the accommodation challenges being faced by officers and men of the service. He announced this during the passing out parade of 455 recruits after their six months basic training at the Prison Training School Kaduna. The Controller General also disclosed that many prisons across the country are receiving a face lift with a view to checkmating incessant jail breaks which is now trending and also make them habitable for both the inmates and prison staff. He added that the issues of training and retraining of officers remain the cardinal objective of his administration which is geared towards equipping them to face contemporary security challenges. The basic recruit course is for a period of six months and the recruits are exposed to several trainings such as marshal acts and weapon handling during the period.
