Nigeria’s UTME will be conducted in 7 other countries – JAMB 28.03.2014, 19:24 Education Share this story 1 The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced that the 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) would also be conducted in seven countries abroad. The Registrar, Dibu Ojerinde, confirmed this March 28, 2014, Friday, while briefing the journalists at the University of Ilorin. He said the examination, scheduled for April, would also take place in Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon, Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, the U.K. and the Republic of Benin. He said JAMB is prepared to conduct a smooth and hitch-free examination in all accredited centres in the country. The Registrar also said about 160 examination centres were accredited to conduct the electronic-based examination, pointing out that the number of examination centres was increased by the Board this year. Last year, the board had only fifty-five centres, he said. Mr Ojerinde said about 300 examination centres applied, but only 160 were accredited because they met with the Boards requirements. He said the centres would have steady power supply with back-up facilities if there was power outage. Mr Ojerinde urged Nigerians not to leave the country for education tourism abroad . According to him, the Ghanaian education was not better than Nigerias, advised those leaving to get back. (NAN)
