Nigger is a noun in the English language. The word originated as a neutral term referring to black people, as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger ("color black").[1] Often used slightingly, by the mid 20th century, particularly in the United States, it suggested that its target is extremely unsophisticated. Its usage had become unambiguously pejorative, a common ethnic slur usually directed at blacks of Sub-Saharan African descent. I aspire to be/am more than a mere color. I am a person whose ancestry traces to the motherland of that which is Africa. By birth I am also an American. So proud am I of this, I have faithfully served my country in the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, so when you want to profile, i.e. describe me, MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM THAT I AM A PROUD AFRICAN AMERICAN. AFRICAN DENOTING MY RACE, AMERICAN DENOTING MY COUNTRY WHICH IN ITSELF SHOULD MAKE ALL OF US…FAMILY.
