Night Two at Aztec Speedway 6/14/2014 Posted by Lynn Hensley on June 15, 2014, 1:10 am 166.137.209.23 The second night of racing at Aztec Speedway this weekend is in the books. For the most part all of the racing was the usual great stuff you expect at Aztec. Maybe an exception or two popped up. In the Modified feature Jeremy Farley jumped out to the front for four laps until a hard charging Regan Tafoya came up to take over the lead. Last nights winner eased past the Farley car and started a challenge for the lead that culminated with another side by side dual for several laps. On lap 16, Zane Devilbiss put the #18 in front with a move to the bottom of turn one and completing the pass on Tafoya down the backstretch. The only caution came out on lap 19 that set up a one lap shootout for the win. Devilbiss held off Tafoya for his 2nd win of the weekend with Mark Rodgers a close 3rd and Aaron Spangler 4th. Spangler was boxed in on the final lap or he might have been in the hunt for the win. Finishing 5th was Shane Devilbiss. The rest of the field in order were: Robbie Chiles, Allen Bradley, Ryan Spangler, Wayne Soares, Trevor Combs, Jeremy Farley, Aaron Wheeler, and David Davis. Heat race winners were: Mark Rodgers, Zane Devilbiss and Regan Tafoya. The 20 lap sport modified feature had 15 cars take the green. Jordan Eddleman jumped out front for 3 laps until the Mopar car of Joey Klemish came roaring by on the outside. Klemish and Eddleman then pulled away from the pack with Eddleman trying over and over to take the lead back but to no avail. Klemish went on make a clean sweep of the weekend. Eddleman held off challengers for the last three laps to keep 2nd spot. In third was Julie Boettler with Rex Higgins up to 4th and Ryan Henley fifth. Sixth on down were: Brian Carey, Glenn Spangler, RL Henley, Luke McCormick, Killian Carey, Juanita Faddis, Roger Cordary, Darrell Cordary, Bub Hughes and JC Yates. Heat race winners were: RL Henley, Julie Boettler and Rex Higgins. The Stock car feature of 20 laps saw Kenny Hendershot back in his familiar spot, Victory Circle. Hendershot pushed his #7 past Richard Trujillo on lap 3 and never looked back until he noticed last nights winner in his mirror, Stephan Carey. Carey was close but just couldnt make the pass. After Kenny Hendershot and Stephan Carey, Larry Bradley took 3rd with Frankie Hendershot 4th and Richard Trujillo 5th. Rounding out the field was Skyler Heath, Ron Brewer, Josh Turnbull, Scott Livingston, Travis Southerlin, Michael Farley and Jeramey Bradley. Jeramey had a rough night with a few altercations with other cars. Heat race winners were: Larry Bradley, Kenny Hendershot and Stephan Carey. The Hobby feature took about an hour whick included a 30 minute red flag due to the ambulance being summoned to the pits for a medical emergency. As it turned out, one of the drivers wife needed oxygen due to an asthma attack. Several cautions were out for the hobby feature with a familiar face back in front. Randy Dorsett took the win with Freddie Brooks 2nd and Luke Klemm next in 3rd. Fourth went to Jessica Radojits forllowed by Paul Dorsett and Jordan Hockinhull. Patricia Phillips was DQd for rough driving. Heat race winners were: Paul Dorsett and Freddie Brooks. The sport compacts had only three cars with one of them not making the call for the feature. Two cars ran 8 laps with Ranai Toler taking the win and Austin Maxwell in 2nd. Ranai also won the heat race. And that wraps up a two nighter at Aztec Speedway. See you in a couple of weeks. Two nights of racing will be held at Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colo. next weekend.
