Night yall....my, my how GOD keeps us safe. I have been so disappointed this summer because we have not been able to find a place at the beach that meets all the requirements that we were needing. I mean nothing! We were to late getting reservations for the 4th, could not find anything, even through a realtor, then we thought at athe end of July. My cousin and I went last week to find something and found nothing as well, went all the way to Englewood. So we just said, wait till net year. Well I know why now....HEALTH ALERT: Sarasota County, Florida confirmed one person has died after coming in contact with a “flesh-eating bacteria” thats found in the beachs warm waters. Its called vibrio vulnificus. I wondered how can anything like a bacteria live in salt water? Today as I was reading about this bacteria I thought of the Jordan River and all it was used for. It is mentioned many times in the Bible. It is the river that Israel crossed when going into the Promised Land. The most significant is the Baptisim of JESUS. Then there is the story about the man who was told to wash seven times in the Jordan and be healed of leprosy. We find the story in 2 KINGS 5:1-27(NIV)... Naaman was a Syrian general who had the favor of GOD resting on him, having been used to deliver his nation. He also owned an Israeli slave girl who tells the leprosy stricken Naaman that there is a man of GOD in Israel who can help him. The man of GOD is Elisha, who tells Naaman to wash himself in the Jordan River seven times, “and thou shalt be clean.” For Naaman to dip seven times is no coincidental use of numerology. Seven is GODS number of completion and perfection, thus, Naaman’s seventh time down represents CHRISTS finished work at the cross. Every sickness and sin that plagues the family of man can be taken care of at our spiritual Jordan, Calvary. Just as the waters of that river washed over the sores of Naaman’s body, the blood of JESUS will wash over the wounds of a life spent in sin. We are made clean by HIS blood, through no effort of our own. Naaman is typical of the world searching for redemption through any other means than through JESUS CHRIST and HIS finished work. He is first upset that Elisha does not come out to him and lay hands on the wounds, claiming healing in the name of the LORD. Next, Naaman asks if the rivers of Damascus, namely Abana or Pharpar are not better and cleaner than the dirty, insignificant Jordan River? JESUS cross is a bloody place that kills our old person. Sometimes we forget just how costly that HIS cross was, and we lean towards our own abilities to heal ourselves. Yes, I am guilty! Fortunately, Naaman’s desire to be healed is stronger than his objections to the fashion in which he is to be healed. His faith is what takes him into the dirty waters of the Jordan, for as his servant points out, What does we have to lose? What do we have to lose by allowing the purifying waters of Calvary to wash over our soul? The end result is cleanliness in the presence of our FATHER, and there is no greater reward! We will be washed and made clean. What complete opposites, the ocean with a bacteria that can kill you and the dirty Jordan River that washes us clean and saves our life for eternity. JESUS made this clear when discussing the importance of baptism with a scholar named Nicodemus. JOHN 3:5(NIV)...JESUS answered, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of GOD unless he is born of water and the Spirit. THY will be done, Amen. Rest well. WHAT CAN WASH AWAY MY SINS ~~~~~NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!!!!! What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus; What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh! precious is the flow That makes me white as snow; No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus
