Nikki Ruth Anderson > Dogs with FCE (support group) My husband and I are currently suffering some heartbreak. Two Mondays ago (Oct. 7), I came home to find our 160 pound Bloodhound Miles, unable to move either of his legs on his right side. We took him to a vet, and hes been there ever since. They diagnosed him with FCE, and said he needs physical therapy to walk again - even though he cant feel his feet. My heart breaks writing this. Hes only 4.5. He is one of two dogs we have, and its not the same without him home. We would like to bring him home, but we currently live in a fifth wheel in west Texas - and the camper has stairs. We want to build a ramp or stairs...something to help him get in. But - Ill be honest - Im terrified. I went to help him with rehab today, and he isnt quite the same. Hes very close to biting when he gets help to stand up. And when he does walk (its wobbly, but he can do it), he tends to walk on his wrist instead of the pads of his right feet. We dont live close to any high tech places. And Im afraid he feels abandoned being at the vet for the second full week now. But, Im not sure hes the same. And I dont know if he can really recover. Or what we can do to help him. We dont have access I a swimming pool unfortunately. Do you know of anyone in west Texas who could help us? We are desperate for some advice.
