Nikolay Starikov, who seems to me to be Putins chief PR public figure and leader of the Party of the Great Fatherland, has been challenged for a TV duel by Igor Strelkov at Neuromir TV in January 2015. Strelkov believes that Starikov accused him of positioning himself as the head of what Starikov calls the patriotic Maidan, which Starikov thinks the West is preparing to oust Putin under the patriotic, rather than liberal, slogans. In his response, Starikov accepted the challenge, but he also questioned the validity of Strelkovs charge (which Strelkov said is confirmed by reliable sources) and/or the need of public figures to respond to every claim or criticism, which is made against them (which, in this case, seems to me to be a weasel-like argument). nstarikov.ru/blog/47797 In one of his other recent blogs on the strange talks between Poroshenko with Lukaschenko and Nazarbayev, Starikov makes a strange claim that Russias position and objective in the Ukrainian conflict coincide with the position and goal of Europe--to stabilize the situation and make the war end. Either Starikov knows nothing of how the Empire or NATO operates, or he is mightily wrong or he represents the pro-EU lobby or column in the Russian leadership, which presents its pro-EU, covert support for the good cop role of the EU, as an unconditionally pro-Putin position, where no critique or opposition even from Novorossiyas supporters is allowed.
