Nina Stemme (Stockholm, Sweden, May 11, 1963) In 1993, Nina Stemme was a winner in the first Operalia competition. During the next decade she consolidated her international reputation and made her mark as a world-class Wagnerian in 2003, when she sang Isolde at the Glyndebourne Festival. Stemme has since sung Wagner’s princess at Bayreuth, Covent Garden, Zurich and Houston Grand Opera. She was Brünnhilde for San Francisco Opera, La Scala, Bavarian State Opera and Vienna State Opera. The Met has welcomed her as Senta and as Strauss’s Ariadne. In April 2014, Stemme will receive an Opera News Award.
