We were lucky enough to adopt Popcorn (now called Woody) in November last year. Woody was part of a litter of blind Cocker Spaniel puppies, and we fell madly in love with him the moment we saw him. Woody settled in well and his lack of sight did not stop him enjoying all the things puppies should. He attends dog training every week, has done some agility training and loves, absolutely loves going on walks on and off lead - the longer the better. He is also a master thief, with a particular fancy to socks and slippers - and he may not have been able to see but he knew where to find them! On the 8th April Woodys life changed forever, he was given the gift of sight. This was only made possible by the kind supporters of Many Tears who donated to help make this operation possible. Attached are a few pictures of Woody pre and post operation. He is stood next the Bella (previously Connie) another Many Tears rescue who was also given the gift of sight. Woody is nearly 9 months old now and three weeks after the operation you can really see his sight developing as he encounters his first rabbit in the distance, branches on trees moving and other dogs approaching - all things taken for granted by a puppy with sight. So Woody and our family would firstly like to say a massive thank you to the Many Tears team for rescuing Woody and then allowing us to adopt him. We also want to ensure that other dogs can benefit from this amazing gift so on the 21st June I will be walking 100KM with a friend to raise money for Many Tears and the Diana Brindlecombe Animal Rescue Centre - both charities who are living proof that the gift of sight changes a dogs life forever. Woody will be in training with me until we hit too many miles for it to be good for him, and I know he will love every minute of it. If you would like to sponsor me to help others dogs get the gift of sight please visit: virginmoneygiving/team/terribletrekkers Thank you Zoe Scotton-Pinhey
