Ninety percent of the worlds woe comes from people not knowing - TopicsExpress

Ninety percent of the worlds woe comes from people not knowing themselves, their abilities, their frailties, and even their real virtues. Most of us go almost all of the way through life as complete strangers to ourselves. - Sydney Harris, syndicated columnist (1917-1986) “Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity The woman at the well. A chance meeting with a man who struck up a conversation with her. An unexpected conversation because His people did not talk to her people and his gender did not talk to her gender in public. But this man did. He asked her for a drink. Then He offered an endless source of refreshment, a way to have continuous living water in her life. Water that would wash away all of the past mistakes and failures. When he asked her to go and get her husband, she said she did not have one. Jesus answered, You are right. You have HAD five husbands and the man you have now is not your husband! She tried to change the subject by getting into a religious discussion and Jesus deflected that away and cut to the chase - declaring Himself the promised Messiah, the One Who could offer real, eternal, living refreshment for her soul. She took him up on that offer and her life was changed forever. Living water, the bubbling cleansing refreshment of God, is available for your life too! The woman at the well= Thirsty Woman Answers Timeless Whisper John 4:13-14 New International Version (NIV) 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
