Nneka is an Igbo word....it means..mother is supreme. The weight of the word and its meaning hit me recently when I took on the task of looking after my kids when their mother had surgery...The first night...i slept around 2330hrs and woke up around 0200hrs to feed my little boy who usually gets the mothers attention at such hours...He hit at my chest and the feeling wasnt pleasing to him making him to cry so loud...I carried him on my shoulder and went to the kitchen to get him his food but it was another dismal and worrisome one...because the food inside the flask was too small to calm him down and get him back to sleep... Huh...I sang all the song I could remember...made promises but my little boy just kept on...And as if to confirm that when it rains it pours...the light went off and I said...GEJ means well ...That was all I could mutter because I just needed some form of courage and strength to carry out this sudden task that I have looked so common and normal while my wife was very well.. Well...one thing led to another and we fought over a cold food inside his feeder but the little boy still refused to accept my stuff and manner of treatment on him....and before long...he went back to sleep leaving me with some form of relieve...I am now used to the task though and enjoyed doing it as my wife keeps telling me pele...well done...dooo. A moment that has made me to appreciate my wife and all mothers all over for their commitment...dedication and care that they render with fluid love...NNEKA....
