No Title Today Immediately the boys father explained, I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief (Mk.9:24). In the ninth chapter of the Book of Mark, a man approaches Jesus with his son. The boy is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of his speech... Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid... (Vs 17-18). The man asks for Jesus help and He responds this way: If you can? said Jesus. Everything is possible for him who believes (V 23). The father exclaims with the statement that is todays verse... I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief. It is clear to me that Jesus has told the man two things: the first is that He can help and the second is that all things are possible for the one who believes... He Can! Now what about us? Do we believe in His power to act? Are there times when we choose to not believe in Jesus power. Are there times when we go off into a distant land like the Prodigal Son did. In the deep recesses of our hearts do we sometimes have an area of unbelief? It is then that we must come to our senses like the Prodigal did, and return humbly to the Father. This choice is a conscious decision, and our belief must also come from the deep recesses of our hearts. Whenever we allow doubt to creep in, we need to cry out as that father did in todays verse.... help me overcome my unbelief. When we do this, we are coming to the throne of grace where we will receive His mercy and find His grace in our time of need. This is so wonderful, and He is so awesome! The great High Priest will take us in His arms. He will comfort us and help us, and do what is best for His glory and our good... Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two...
