No, its not an illusion - Rick Millar is wearing a sky blue cap. Rick [right] is no longer competing at Avalon and was head hunted to sweep at Manly where he has the mens A crew and one of the womens crews [Mighty Ducks]. A Life Member of Avalon, Rick explains: I have probably been there 50 years but this was a good opportunity, especially to sweep a mens A crew again. I am not getting any younger and reckon I might have another two or three years left in me [sweeping]. It was a heartbreaking call but I bit the bullet. The Manly boys have a lot of potential. They wont be rowing in Ocean Thunder but the Mighty Ducks will. Rick said the aim was to try and form a junior male crew at Manly as part of the clubs rebuilding process. The other sea dog on the left [Don McManus] is still going as strong as ever but his Branch champion and Australian rep crew has folded. They may make appearances later next year at the State and Aussies. Don will still have a mens and womens crew rowing in Ocean Thunder at Dee Why on Saturday [November 15].
