No matter how near to power you think you are or how quick you think you can grasp it, you must still approach your movement with the mentality of a long distance runner, maintaining the qualities of perseverance, steadfastness and caution. Never allow yourself to be tempted to rush or be discouraged to stay way behind…and above all you have to develop in you, a strong and unwavering desire to have what you want..... Socrates was a great philosopher and one of the greatest thinkers of all times… If he wasnt, I wouldn’t be talking about him hundreds of years after. At the time when the thoughts of ordinary men had not surpassed the vineyard in their backyard, Socrates was defining thoughts that would shape generations. One day a lowly peasant came to pay a visit to the great philosopher; a man reputed to know all or at least what knowing all meant at that time. He demanded from Socrates the secret of success “What must I do to be successful in life?” he asked. Socrates looked thoughtfully at the small man, like all men of wisdom do when confronting men of lower intellectual endowment. Socrates told the man to meet him the next morning to receive the secret. The peasant, a man not used to waking up early made the next day an exception. He was at the door of the great man even before the more disciplined Socrates woke up. Socrates saw the man at his door and told him to follow him on a journey. The two men reached a river on their journey, the peasant looked around for a boat but Socrates told the man to follow him and walk across the river, but as soon as they entered the middle of the river Socrates held the peasants head under water. Initially the peasant was obedient to the great man expecting it maybe to be a small anointing exercise but when it took longer than expected, he started struggling for breath and fighting for his dear life. The peasant never knew he had the strength in him when he started struggling for his life; he fought in a manner so tough that he was able to free himself from the stranglehold of the bigger man. Socrates looked at the smaller man and said “That is the answer to your question” the man was bewildered; an answer to his question when he was nearly drowned? If not because he kept on struggling to free himself… Socrates replied that, as soon as he starts struggling and keeps on struggling in life with the same tenacity and focus as he did under the water, he would be successful… The problem most people face is that when they plan they create several options for retreat. And anytime there is a small disappointment they will take any of these detours. This is good planning for ordinary men with ordinary ambitions. But great characters after a great reward go for it with all they have, ready for any setbacks and prepared to stay on course as long as it might take. Your options must be structured within your course and not outside it. You can have different plans and different directions of movement but it must be within the same framework. Make no escape outside your plan. When your spirit believes there is no way out apart from the defined course, it would perform miracles… GREAT AND INTERESTING LESSONS IN THE BOOK- THE LAWS OF THE BOSSES - ORDER A COPY FROM AMAZON.CO.UK OR PICK A COPY FROM LIFESTYLE MEDIA CENTRE SILVERBIRD ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE ABUJA
