No matter what stove you have, burning dry firewood is a prerequisite for efficient burning. Firewood should be purchased or cut at least 1 year in advance. So if youre buying wood now it should be for next year. Some tree species like oak, hickory, and locust need at least 2 drying seasons. Burning unseasoned wood can equate to 1/2 the heat value, or double the cost, or double the labor & time in moving wood into the house, to get the same heat as dry wood..
