No one in ISIS knows any history then? Murdering US citizens and threatening to attack America wont make Obama back down, it will give him even more support to use his military. America was desperate to stay out of both world wars until they were attacked, the response of the public after 9/11 was to demand action. Same with the UK, the Battle of Britain and the Blitz just steeled the british to fight on, likewise attacking the Falklands.
