No place for Mozambican Sonito at Kaizer Chiefs The Mozambican-born striker is set to begin his trial with AmaKhosi this week, but Goal has learned that there’s no space for Sonito at Naturena 02 Dec 2013 EXCLUSIVE By Ernest Makhaya Following media reports that Kaizer Chiefs have handed Mozambican international forward Apson David “Sonito” Majante a trial, Goal can confirm that he will not be signed at least for now. This is due to the fact that AmaKhosi have already registered five foreign players with the PSL which makes it impossible to add another to the list. Knowledge Musona, Willard Katsande, Jimmy Jambo, Kingston Nkhatha and Ugandan international Ivan Bukenya are all on the books of Chiefs as foreigners. Zimbabwean-born striker Matthew Rusike is the only exception as he has holds the South African citizenship in the current Chiefs squad. Nicknamed Sonito by his peers, Manjate reportedly finished as the top goalscorer in the recently ended Mozambican league. The 28-year-old Sonito has consistently been part of the Mozambican senior national team, but his dream, of playing in the PSL one day, is yet to come true. However, Chiefs could sign him at the end of the season when Musona returns to Europe to re-join German outfit TSG Hoffenheim.
