No secret that for 3 years this wheel size has been my favorite. But reading this and other forums have informed me that: If I prefer 27.5 over 26 a) my riding skills are deficient because anyone who likes or indeed needs a wheel larger than 26 to clean terrain down, up or level is doing it wrong; and/or b) I am a clueless victim of industry marketing because the difference between 26 and 27.5 is too small to matter objectively (as so called 26 is actually 26.5) and I am deluding myself. If I prefer 27.5 over 29: a) my riding skills are deficient because I must have been unable to master the technique required to move the wagon wheels around tight twisty terrain such as eastern single track and steep switchbacks in mountainous terrain, so that Im doing it wrong; and/or b) I am a clueless victim of industry marketing because as a matter of scientific and mathematical fact, 29 wheels are superior to 27.5 in all terrain for all riders, so I have been bamboozled by manufacturers who missed out on the 29 bandwagon. c) Im a just plain dumbass who lacks the slightest education in math or engineering and am totally deluding myself if I think that 27.5 wheels are easier to maneuver and to move faster from a standstill. Bottom line is I suck at mtb and should switch to road cycling where there is only one wheel size to worry about and superb bike handling skills are not strictly necessary. Either that or commit suicide.
