No shockers in the NFL today. Not sure why Alex Smith is getting so much flack. Alex Smith has ran for his life, had at least 5 passes dropped, somehow still kept KC somewhat close. Hell get no credit though. Hes not a come from behind QB. Hes not a QB that wins you games, hes a reliable QB that doesnt lose games. Hes methodical, not a play maker / fantasy QB and needs some big name receivers to help him out. Their receivers are their Achilles heal. With that said, KC as a team lost this game. The major difference in this game was the defensive / offensive lines. Denver was all over Smith like white on rice and Manning wasnt even touched. Smith couldnt get comfortable in the pocket while manning was camping out in the pocket. Great game by Manning and the Broncos. Now, Kaepernick, the best average QB ever, had another stellar passing game with 127 yards. If the 49ers want to beat the top teams they are going to have to reorganize their offense and get Kaep out of the pocket, though teams now realize hes only effective rolling right and have shot down that option. The 9ers defense allowed 400 yards or close to it, but it took 67 plays to do. The 49ers offense got 200 yards on 56 plays. The median play for the 49ers was 1 yard - blaming the refs is just ridiculous with stats like that. 49ers penalties 5-45. Saints penalties 4-49. Pretty even officiating. Had it not been for the SF defense, that game would of been a blow out. I think the reason 49ers fans are so bitter is their expectations are way too high for the team and for the QB and due to those expectations are having a hard time coping with the reality of the situation. Perhaps with some different or new offensive coaching, the 49ers can turn it all around. Keeping Kaep in the pocket isnt going to cut it. The 49ers have only beat one team above .500. Good thing most of their remaining schedule is pretty easy with the exception of the Seahawks and the Cardinals. I still think the 49ers chances of making the playoffs are still great.
