No wonder Chris Youngs music touches our souls! “The biggest thing is that it makes people have that gut reaction when they first hear it they go, ‘Oh, my god I relate to this,’” he said in a recent telephone interview. “Whether it’s a song about partying or being in love or losing somebody, if you can put yourself in that situation and attach yourself to it, it has more meaning for you.” And part of the magic of connecting with an audience is feeling those emotions within yourself, Young said. But, even that is still a bit of a guessing game. “When you’re writing, you’re trying to make something that makes you do that,” he said. “And hopefully it makes everyone else do that once they hear it. Sometimes I’ll write something that’s important for me to get out or say or feel and it just won’t do the same for other people.”
