Noah movie review: Here are my 2 cents on the Noah movie for those who care. Take it or leave it. Im not a professional movie critic. The cast: Russell Crowe and all the other actors did great. I personally dont care for Jennifer Connelly but thats just me. The Experience: The movie has a semi-creative animation sequence at the beginning, and about the halfway point, that is reminiscence of a neo Sunday School flannel gram (simplistic and cartoon like) that tells a condensed version of the story of creation. It was fair and sparked some points to ponder. The rest of the live action and CGI was average. There were a few times in the movie that I felt my stomach turn due to extremely fast camera sweeps and other movements. Those instances were very disappointing and distracting. Overall: First of all I have no problem with this movie. I take for what it is, understanding the environment from which it was created. I understand this movie was produced for the purpose of entertainment not for the purpose of theological education. I will also say that it made me go back and read my Bible and if this movie can interest others to do so then great. The Lord works in mysterious ways. The fact that a biblical character movie is even at the theater with such an excellent cast amazes me. Biblical concerns: If you read the story of Noah it is really quite vague. It describes the corruption of man in the time of Noah. God favored Noah and his family so He told Noah to build a boat, collect the other creatures and wether the storm to start fresh. The Lord sent rain, the Earth flood and was cleansed, then Noahs family and the animals repopulated the Earth. Pretty simple. With that said there were no major red flags that left with pit in my stomach or a disturbance in my spirit. Again that could have been due to my lack of expectation for biblical consistency. Actually I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of the movie was scriptural lot accurate. However there are a few times in the movie that Noah seems a little cracked and confused about his mission but in the end it all turns to a good final thought/theme. There are also mystical creatures call The Watchers that help protect Noahs family and build the Arc. Hollywood did pull a creative license with them in the movie. I am not theological scholar so you guys need to get out there and see it for yourselves and comment back on your experience. God be with you.
