Noel Ify Alumona LESSONS FROM THE ANAMBRA GUBER ELECTIONS: As the whole noise winds down, amidst the tears of the loosers and jubiliation of the winners, we ponder on certain lessons from the election. One thing I have learned from the Anambra gubernatorial elections is that Chief Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige is widely accepted across all the zones of the federation to be a decent man and a great leader. Throughout the campaign, we were inundated with claims from across the land and across the board that he was not corrupt, he was a detribalized Nigerian, he had the capacity to take on the establishment and fight for change, he was a performer and he was the best thing that could happen to Anambra State. From General Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Aliyu Nuhu in the North West, to Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, Governor Ibrahim Geidam and Jay Baba Kwaghe in the North East, to Senator George Akume, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Bishop Soni Akoji in the North Central, to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Chief Annie Okonkwo and Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri in the South East, to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Femi Fani Kayode and Bunmi Awoyemi Divinewealth in the South West, to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon and Teddy Victor in the South South, there is unanimous agreement that Chief Chris Nwabueze Ngige (ONWA) is a great leader and represents everything we want in those leading us. So I ask my APC leaders and supporters who fought ferociously and gallantly for Dr. Ngige to be elected as Governor of Anambra State, since Dr. Chris Ngige represented everything you have always looked for in a leader, since Dr. Chris Ngige inspired so much faith and belief in you all that you would do anything to elect him into public office, since Dr. Chris Ngige was worth all the campaigning and effort even to the extent of some of you relocating to Anambra State to fight for the man, since you believed very deeply that Dr. Chris Ngige was good for Anambra State, I should ask, is he good for Nigeria as well? Since APC have identified this great Nigerian that will be a national asset should he be given the opportunity to lead, shouldnt APC nominate this fighting anti-corruption detribalized performer and make him available to Nigerians as their Presidential candidate in 2015? My brothers and sisters from the South East in Kelechi Deca, Kelechi Jeff Eme and Roz Ben-Okagbue can join Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri and lead this charge in their party and demand that Chief Dr. Chris Ngige (ONWA) should be made available to Nigerians as a Presidential choice with the same zeal as he was made available to the people of Anambra State as a gubernatorial choice. Failure to do this will be a disservice to Nigeria and Nigerians because we would be denied the opportunity of voting for someone we have been waiting for in a very long time, in a fighting anti-corruption detribalized Nigerian as our President.
