Non-fulfillment of promises: Teachers protest in front of Bhutto’s mausoleum GARHI KHUDA BUX, Hundreds of primary teachers of Larkana, Sukkur and Karachi divisions on Thursday converged at Bhutto mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bux and recorded their protest against the present Sindh government for not accepting their demands. They were led by Primary Teachers Association (PTA) President Rafique Jarwar, General Secretary Liaquat Deedar, Intezar Chilgri, Khuda Bux Mirani, Raza Shah and others. The protesting teachers showered rose petals at the graves of martyred Bhutto leaders and offered Dua. They held a protest demonstration and staged a sit-in outside Bhutto mausoleum. They were chanting slogans against the government, demanding immediate acceptance of their demands. They also demanded removal of education secretary. Later they took out a big protest rally and marched to former President House, Naundero. The distance between Garhi Khuda Bux & Ex-President House (now known as Naundero House) is over three kilometers. They were holding placards and banners on which their demands were written. They also wore black armbands and held black flags in their hands. Talking to media on the occasion, Rafiq Jarwar and Liaquat Deedar said that in 2010, the government made commitment with them that their demands would be accepted but till to date they remained ignored. The leaders said that on the pattern of Balochistan government, they should also be awarded BPS-16 as there should be no two different laws in one country when the Constitution is the same. They also demanded son quota, death quota, double time scale, payment of monthly salaries to Sindh Language Teachers of Karachi, who had not been paid since last 15 months and confirmation of services of all teachers appointed on contract basis. They warned: “If the problems of teachers are not resolved, their struggle will continue. They said that they had come to Garhi Khuda Bux to make a complaint to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that her party’s government was not fulfilling the commitments she had made with teachers community.
