North Carolina Head Start has several new directors all across the state. We would like to celebrate each one as they begin their new journey with Head Start. Today we highlight Mimi Jefferson - Martin County Community Action, Inc, Head Start Director. Mimi Jefferson is an accomplished Early Childhood professional, event coordinator, and advocate for children with special needs. With a background of nearly 20 years in the early childhood profession, of which 10 were spent working in Head Start, she brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity and confidence to issues that concern children and families. This summer, Mimi earned the distinct honor of being inducted into Class VI of North Carolina Head Start State Collaboration Office’s Special Projects Internship, affectionately known as SPI. Currently, Mimi holds the position as Martin Community Action, Inc. Head Start Director. Mimi’s favorite quote speaks to what she regards as a divine mission: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you’ve imagined” – H.David Thoreau. Of herself she says, “I am a small town girl, with a global mentality; the eldest of three children; and the mother of one amazing son! Congratulations Mimi! Photos by: akeem.mcduffie
