North Carolina needs an educated population. The North Carolina Constitution guarantees absolutely that the best possible education must be provided to its children. Removing funds from the education budget to send children to unregulated private schools violates that provision, which is clearly stated as one of the states primary functions to serve the people of North Carolina. The money being removed pays for buildings, textbooks and educators. This new law is unconstitutional, and should be struck down. Unfortunately the extreme GOP-led legislature does not seem to care about either the NC Constitution, or the education of the vast majority of our children, and they have packed our courts with other radically extreme GOP Tea Party activists. Vote this November. Vote to replace your Tea Party Republican Senator or House member in the General Assembly. Vote for the progressive Democrat on the Blue Ballot, which will be available at polling sites statewide this fall. Your vote is the only way we can stop the Tea Party Republicans from destroying our schools. We need to turn the rascals out this fall. Be sure you are registered, especially you young people who are no longer being pre-registered. Go to the polls and put your vote in the ballot box. It is the only action we can take to make things change.
