North Fork spring country dance Friday The North Fork Studio will hold a Spring County Dance and Hoedown 6-10 p.m., April 25. Dancing will take place from 7 to 9:30. A raffle will be held during the mid-evening break. Music will be provided by Up Country String Band featuring fiddle, mandolin, guitars, and banjo. Caller Penny Critchlow will guide dancers through circle mixers, contra line dances, the Virginia reel, and square dances. Contra dancing is a style of dance similar to the Virginia Reel that was brought to America by early settlers from Europe. No dancing experience is necessary. Critchlow will walk everyone through each dance step-by-step. The North Fork Studio is pleased to offer a fun evening for the whole family again this year, said John Kilburn, studio president. The event takes place at the newly renovated North Fork Studio, next to the North Fork Library. Tickets are $10. Studio subscribers and students, $5, toddlers free.
