North Platte High School Announcement Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 There will be a SkillsUSA meeting after school today, Sept. 11th for students interested in attending the Fall Leadership Conference in room 1716. Juniors and seniors, would you like to be a part of National Honor Society? A member must exhibit outstanding scholarship, exceptional character, experience in leadership, and service to others. Requirements to be eligible for NHS are a 3.60 GPA and involvement in school activities. Qualifying GPA lists are posted throughout the school. Please check to see if you qualify academically for National Honor Society. To learn more about the application process, please attend one of the 3:30pm meetings in Mrs. Elliotts room 2408 on Tuesday, Sept. 16th or Wednesday, Sept. 17th. The process will be explained and packet information will be handed out. Every individual gym locker will be cleaned with a sanitizing agent every single Friday night by custodians. Students must remove their clothes & all belongings from their lockers every Friday & take their clothes home to wash over the weekend. The school will not be responsible for any damage to clothing/belongings left in lockers. The PSAT/NMSQT Test will be administered to college-bound juniors and sophomores on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 8:00am in the High School Media Center. This is the qualifying test for National Merit Scholarship. Students must sign up for this test in the Guidance Office with Mrs. Schumacher. The cost of this test is $20.00 payable by check when you register. Please make your check out to NPHS. You will receive a bulletin that contains valuable information and practice test questions when you register. Deadline to register is noon, Monday, October 13th. There are a limited number of test books so the first 40 registrants will be able to test and there is no refund if you fail to show up for the test. NPHS is again hosting a Spanish Music Concert this year featuring the singer Ennio Emmanuel [pronounced N-E-O ] from Puerto Rico. The concert will be on Tuesday, Oct. 28th. If you enrolled this year in a Spanish class or have already completed your four years bu still would like to attend, please contact one of the four Spanish teachers for details: Señora Hanson Hache , Señora Hartman, Señorita Mejia or Señor Johnson.
