Sunday Rant: Asking the Tough Questions... Ive produced 4 films. A good friend of mine, John Roland, has appeared in each film. John spent 40 years in the news business. He built an enviable reputation for being the one guy in the room unafraid of asking the tough questions. Perhaps thats why his FOX5 NY news program always grabbed high ratings. Ive spent endless hours with John. Hes helped me develop my skills when it comes to asking the tough questions without fear. Combine his lessons with my knack for picking off a persons BS long before most people discover its there, and the result is very few Christmas cards sent my way from supporters of the most talked about 2016 hopefuls. Example, Senator Rand Paul. For those of you who have followed my FB page for the past year, you may recall the public lashing I took when identifying Sen Paul as an advocate for amnesty. I said Paul would ultimately provide a pathway to citizenship. I told you he would provide work permits to every illegal alien in America. Sen. Pauls supporters claimed I was lying. They claimed I was trying to propel my own career by attacking the good Senator. I think this page lost a few hundred LIKES immediately after I posted a scathing opinion that ended with the words I dont Stand with Rand. My opinions were not an attack on Mr Paul as a person. Simply put, after watching hundreds of his interviews, reading all of his Op-Eds and listening to a collection of his speeches I came to the conclusion that unless you are an illegal alien, Paul is a bad choice for president. I was eventually proven correct months later when David Axelrod interviewed Sen Paul at a college in Chicago. David asked the tough questions and Sen. Paul had nowhere to hide. Rand Paul admitted he was for what I call amnesty. He agreed to a pathway for citizenship. He agreed to issuing work permits to the 6M illegal aliens who are currently working construction jobs. He said he didnt think the US needed voter ID laws. Breitbart picked up the story and presto, the real Rand Paul was revealed and I was proven correct. I love my country. And so I will continue to share my thoughts about potential 2016 candidates. Yes, I am exploring a run in 2016 and so when I post information about other potential candidates I often receive backlash from their supporters, i.e. fans of Ben Carson. People need to remember I havent abandoned my day job. Although I am exploring the 2016 opportunities, until I announce my candidacy I remain a CEO with a camera and a keyboard. Although the odds are high that I will run, if I decide not to run dont you want me digging through the BS and revealing the facts so you know the bottom line? Assuming the answer is YES, rest easy knowing I will be asking the tough questions without pause or apologies. I will be looking at every hopeful be they a doctor, governor, senator or representative. I am listening to every speech and interview, I am reading every book and article. Sure, I do this to measure my potential competition, but more importantly I do it to measure who the person is and can they truly help the country. My guiding question is two-fold, (A) will their policies help my kids and your kids, and (B) can the person beat Hillary? Right now Cruz, Paul and Carson receive the most press. Sadly, they are never asked the tough questions. Its always a layup segment filled with flowery questions and sound bite answers. This leaves guys like Axelrod and myself to ask the tough questions. In my case, I have to dig because none of these men will sit in front of my camera. Ive been digging for the past few weeks into a few guys. Although I have more work to do, all I can say is one man is looking better each day and could get my support if I do not run, while the other guy is reminding me of Rand Paul on steroids. I conclude this rant by saying none of us are perfect. Until God runs for office, there will never be the perfect candidate. I just urge you to look past the news segments, books and paid for highlight reels. Ask the tough questions. You dont need to be named Dennis in order to do so. Although, as youll see in this clip, us Dennis specialize in getting to the bottom of things. You can to, here is the hint... know how to read between the lines. https://youtube/watch?v=VTgpFYDYeTI
