Norwood PTA Minutes Tuesday, September 10, 7pm Norwood Elementary Library The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM. 1. Approval of minutes from previous meeting-Jen Dabal made a motion to approved the previous minutes as they stood. Jen Feeser 2nd the motion. All approved and the previous minutes were approved. 2. Treasurer Report – Requests for funds? The fiscal report for the PTA is from July 1st to June 30th.For this past year we had a total income of $499.00 and total expenses for $ 514.00. Our net income was $(-14.88). Currently there is $1400.00 in the bank. Request for funds, Michele Blunt suggested that we purchase snacks for the kindergarten and 1st grades and some supplies like tissues and Clorox wipes for library. Jen Feeser appreciated the offer but said that she was trying to wean the kids of snacks and would let us know if she wanted us to purchase some. We will Kara Young to submit a letter requesting what she needs for the library. If anyone would like to donate these items to the Kara (Clorox wipes and Tissues) please take them to the elementary library. 3. School Board Report-No one attending School Board Meeting, therefore no report. 4. Box Top Report-We are currently still collecting Box Tops and Labels for Education. We will only have 3 contests a year. This first contest is class against class and the winners will get to have a party of their choice, (For example-Crazy Hat Day, PJ Day and etc.) We will check twice a year from BoxTops and currently there is $215.00 that will be issued in December along with any additional that we collect before December. 5. Review of old business a. Back to School Night-It was nice to see the people there. We would have liked to have a bigger turnout. Next year we would like the back to school nights for all the schools to be on the same night. 6. New Business – a. Pioneer Day – Michele Blunt- The teachers just sent out the letters to the parents again looking for people to do the floats. Michele will check with each teacher this next week to see what the response was. b. Homecoming Booth – Mandee Shirley -We may add a bake sale to our home coming booth. In addition we thought of purchasing a popcorn machine, having hot cocoa. We need to make a sign, “What is PTA” Also make a photo collage.Mrs. Martin asked if the PTA would like to do some concessions. There are many open dates especially homecoming. Michele Blunt will check the open dates when she is at school. The open dates will at end of minutes. c. Halloween Middle School Dance – Jen Dabal-She will check with Kyle Rasmussen and Morgan Rummel about DJ it. PTA provided a budget of $300.00 for the dance d. Thanksgiving – Take your Family to Lunch Day – Sam Jacobs we may talk to Sara Doehrman about helping the kids do a small presentation for parents at the lunch. 7. Parent/Teacher Comments/Questions/Concerns – Next meeting Tuesday, October 8, 7pm It was brought up that we ask maintenance to clean out the gutters and fix air system which is an ongoing problem from the summer. Parent Teacher conferences for the Elementary School are October 21-24. Jen Dabal shared with us the GOCO Spring 2014 School play yard Grant. It is due in January and awarded in April. The PTA agreed to support Jen Dabal. 8.
