Not exactly sure how current this fire perimeter map is .... but this does shows how close the Bald Sisters Fire is to the Baker County Line and passing from the Malheur NF into the Wallowa-Whitman NF and the possibility of it threatening South Fork Burnt River Watershed that hooks into the Burnt River Watershed, both life blood to the Burnt River and communities of Unity, Oregon and Hereford, Oregon and on down stream to the next ranch and irrigation community, or the fishing and boating and recreation that could be impacted. The south fork area with its Mile 9 project was to be selectively treated to help the watershed and enhance the recreation experience since thats where the FS developed all its ATV trail riding areas with pull through camping spots to accommodate those huge toy haulers, etc.....but something doesnt appear to be going according to plan... oh yeah, remind me, how do you manage bug kill and forest fires, from a virtual position behind a desk with a joystick playing fire prediction and modeling software or through promoting designated routes in a CLOSED forest policy?
