Not far away until Go time now......... Time to get the last minute training in but most importantly get the body right. The foam roller and The Stick will become my daily companions for the next 3 weeks, as well as some salt water swimming and massage. The Stick will even accompany me over to Vegas. Sometimes it is a trap training hard right up until an endurance event and often the body can be more fatigued than you think. I plan on squeezing in a few Yoga sessions too. Sleep is crucial and I will be squeezing in as many Nana Naps as I can before the event. I am also taking my Turbo Superfood formula every day, to make sure I am looking after the inside of my body too. I am starting to get a bit toey about WTM and talking to my fellow Mudders, they are too. It has been a long wait for us all and lots of hard training sessions and races are now behind us. I know I am getting a bit more anxious because yesterday in the waiting room, before getting the Cortisone shot in my foot, I was the most nervous I have been all year. Even before big races. I was speed reading the magazines in the lobby.....I think I read all 6 in 5 minutes. I paced up and down and had about 4 drinks of water, which culminated in 2 toilet trips. I was even sweating it up a bit...... The wait was worse than the needles though. All worked out fine in the end. Today the local has worn off and Im walking like I have a carrot up my bum but the doc assured me, I should be fine by tomorrow. So, it brings me to the tapering question. I still havent really worked this out...... I do tend to back off my training, because I feel fresher. I have read that some elite athletes dont taper at all though.
