Not gonna lie...I kinda get frustrated when people pick on those who receive assistance through welfare or any other assistance programs. Welfare is the organized public or private social services for the assistance of disadvantaged groups. Aid could include general Welfare payments, health care through Medicaid, food stamps, special payments for pregnant women and young mothers, and federal and state housing benefits. Its really easy to say that people on welfare have it easy. But most people on welfare get paid less than the equivalent of 11 dollars per hour. I personally make around 13 dollars an hr and consider myself to be tight on money. I also currently have very supportive friends and family, coworkers, I dont have any children to pay for, and I have it pretty stress free in most areas and Im very lucky. A lot of peoples situations are very different than mine and are not as privileged as mine. Sometimes people just need help and thats what those systems are there for. Of course there are those who abuse systems, there will always be those people. But that doesnt change the fact that most people on welfare cant wait to get off of it because of the stigma it holds, that stigma of which is created by those who demean those who are on it to feel ashamed and embarrassed. We have the power to change the way we think about people...sometimes it just takes a second to stop and think how we can treat people better..
