Not hockey again -- but an important topic. More discussion on the domestic violence front. Good points here. Heres the thing: sports are willing to capitalize on women (as cheerleaders and dancers and ice girls, etc). But sports remain a tough field for women to break into - especially as physicians and management and so forth. Women are most accepted in sports when it comes to their being eye candy - the previously mentioned jobs, or pretty sideline reporters; rarely the in-depth analysts or more serious roles. So why are sports so happy to exploit women for their financial gain or for gaining fans, but they hardly give more than a slap on the wrist for domestic violence issues -- when these athletes are supposed to be role models?
