Not just a Ninja Turtle weapon icon. I have received quite a number of emails and msgs regarding the Tekpi (sai) movements I posted a few days ago with my son in the background. Thank you for the positive feedback everyone. The west knows this as the Sai but we call it by the name Tekpi, the weapon known in malay Silat and Kuntau is mainly practiced by practitioners of Malaysian buah pukul (pukulan, kuntau). Some masters and senior practitioners constantly train with a pair of tekpi that is up to 3 kilograms in weight. Now learning to move and strike with those heavy weights require correct body alignment and structure. Teachers who constantly practice with the tekpi their strikes tend to feel like a horses back kick, they go through you. If you are interested to know more or train the tekpi, please contact our friends; Kalimah Serumpunjati or; Silat Tekpi Endau watch video : youtu.be/q49o131yN6k They are from Malaysia (please click their names). These are some of the teachers that specialises in the Malaysian silat version of this weapon. This is a clip of his sons/students at a recent Malaysian Martial Arts gathering.
