Not long after I left the AJC I approached one of my favorite chefs, Eddie Hernandez of Taqueria del Sol where Ralph and I are longtime regulars, with this crazy idea I had about helping him write a cookbook. Not only did I love his food and want to make his recipes, I knew he had a fascinating and inspiring story to tell and I longed to record it. He was game. Many tasty meetings and proposal drafts later, I am thrilled to announce that we have officially signed with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and as icing on the cake, our editor will be the legendary Rux Martin! We could not be in better hands! To celebrate, Eddie cooked a special shrimp and grits breakfast this morning for me and his brilliant and supportive TDS partner/co-founder Mike Klank, whose input has been and will continue to be invaluable. Thank you Mike, Eddie, Rux, our wise and diligent agent Amy Hughes, and the Almighty for this chance of a lifetime. I am so ready to dive into this new adventure. Let the recipe testing begin!!
