Not many people yumped their single-seaters... The Vee we rescued from a chicken-shed was quite old and had reasonable ground clearance, so it made a great hillclimb car, keeping up with run-of -the-mill club rally cars at a fraction of the cost. Engine - a standard VW 1500 with a twin-choke carb; 65 bhp on a good day. Alan Grout owned the engine and ran the car at club race meetings. I reckon I had a lot more fun on the gravel! Pukekohe Car Club Gold Star Hillclimb final April 1985, Stevensons Quarry, Drury.
