Not many prints survived the fire at Grafikens Hus in march this - TopicsExpress

Not many prints survived the fire at Grafikens Hus in march this year. Around 70 prints did, in various condition. It was a miracle that around 40 of the prints from a donation called the Rembrandt-donation survived. It was a donation from a personal collection of prints from mainly 17th, 18th and early 19th century. Prints made in the spirit of Rembrandt. Some were from pupils of Rembrandt and some were master copies from reproduction workshops with many well known engravers and etchers in Europe. George van Vliet (1610 - ? ) was an engraver and a painter who worked in Rembrandts workshop and has made many engravings in the spirit of the master. These are a few from his Beggar-series that survived. They will be taken care of and hopefully it will be an exhibition together with approximately 40 more prints from the collection that survived the fire in the future.
