Not one to shy away from a challenge, Camo gave me the number 9, so heres 9 random facts about me that most of you wont know: 1. The Rogue Runners have recently discovered how accident prone I can be, but its an issue Ive had most of my life. Some of my injuries have included broken/fractured wrist, collar bone, ribs, 4 fingers, 8 toes, ankle, right leg, foot and nose Stitches to my right index finger which I almost severed off, right ankle after falling through a glass door panel, plus many more for different surgical procedures Dislocated thumb, finger, shoulder and jaw I still have metal pins in my right foot holding my big toe (which is fused) to the ball of my foot 2. On my 18th birthday I woke up naked in a cell in a guard room at HMS Daedalus having been found by the Naval Provost (Military Police) naked in a skip bin. I was subsequently charged with being drunk onboard, drinking under age, indecent exposure. After doing my 9s (punishment duties) I was finally allowed to go home on Christmas leave on Christmas Eve. Added to that was that the guy in the next cell to me was none other than Justin Paddy Hope, who ended up from that day on being one of my closest friends and my best man at my wedding. 3. I spent the first 3 weeks of my police training in the UK hiding a crush injury to my right heal which I sustained while working in a warehouse while waiting for my start date for the police. During those 3 weeks I was packing a hole in the inside of my right heal with iodine swabs twice a day. I still managed to post the highest beep test results and fastest 1.5km fitness running times of the squad during the same time. 4. I once performed what is commonly known throughout the Royal Navy as a Grand Slam in my sleep after my leaving do on HMS Edinburgh before leaving the ship after two amazing years and flying home from Naples, Italy. For those of you who dont know, a Grand Slam is pissing, shitting and puking over yourself in your sleep. 5. When I get drunk I sometimes have the urge to take off all my clothes. So much so that while I was a Detective at Chester and Ellesmere Port CID I was assigned a chaperone at the CID Christmas Parties to ensure I kept my clothes on. 6. About 5 years ago, following a bad time in my life, I came precariously close to taking my own life, I was diagnosed with severe depression and PTSD. Im happy to say I have fully recovered and although it was a very dark time in my life, and one which I never wish to repeat, Im truly grateful for it as it taught me a lot about myself and what is truly important in life. It was also the precursor to me turning my health and fitness around again which you all know is integral to my lifestyle. 7. I once put a pub (The Jersey Tavern, Weymouth) toilet brush in my mouth and held it there for 30 seconds for a bet. I made about 35 pounds and used lots of rum, whiskey and vodka to rinse my mouth out afterwards. Do not try this at home kids!! 8. I plan on hopefully turning my passion for cooking into a business in the near future with plans underway for an Australian travel cookbook and also a cookbook for runners. This is of course on top of trying to finalise writing my autobiography. 9. On the early hours of my wedding day, following my final stag night, I tragically lost one of my brothers in arms and mate, Pete Ashley who sadly died after falling from a hotel window balcony. Pete and I joined the Royal Navy the same day, shared the same birthday, served in the Gulf the same year. I miss him dearly and remember him fondly. I have a tattoo tribute to Pete on the inside of my right bicep which I wear proudly. Out of the tragedy came love, love for his Mum and Dad, Joyce and Derek, his sister Jayne and her family who Im proud to call my family now and who my family and I remain very close with. I love them all dearly and would do anything for them at the drop of a hat. Hit like and Ill send you a number
