Not only is this relationship advice phrased in the absolute best - TopicsExpress

Not only is this relationship advice phrased in the absolute best way possible, but its honestly some of The best advice from a form of Christian media I have ever read. I especially would like to say that letting go of the list of what you want in a person is absolutely true and healthy. Before I dated my husband I read a book called Things my dad never taught me about relationships written by a fantastic YWAM pastor named Patrick Dodson. He pointed out that our list that we are told to create is not only a form of control and not only demands something from The Lord we have no right to demand, but also teaches us to subconsciously put God and the people around us in a box. Instead of walking into a room thinking How can The Lord use me to love these people, we start to walk into rooms without even realizing it thinking who can fulfill my desire in this specific way? Who is in and who is out? I fully believe that learning to look for Godly traits and dumping a list of expectations on people are two totally different things. Our relationship with our (future, in this case) spouse is supposed to teach us to DENY our selfish desires and expectations, not support them. That being said, this article is worth the read.
