Not sure how to phrase this.. Do we need to know the language - TopicsExpress

Not sure how to phrase this.. Do we need to know the language of our dance in order to dance? I dont think so, no one expects you to know French to dance ballet, even if the steps have French names. If you are in the USA you may never have need of any or the languages in the world. We are the official melting pot, we do expect everyone who moves here to learn our language, it is a good thing to learn the language of the country you are going to make your home. After all you move for a different or better life. So be a good new citizen and learn American English. Arrogant isnt it? The part about leaning the language of the country you are living in is a very good neighbor thing to do.. it is respectful. If I moved to another country I would expect to need to learn the language no matter how difficult it might seem to me in the beginning. Is it a good idea to not learn any language other then the one you were born hearing? Nope.. Many countries in the world teach more then one language, usually in the largest cities who are more likely to get tourist who spend money, or in colleges. I really believe a second language should be taught in schools in the USA... I believe Latin should be taught since it is the base of most European languages. Its a start. Start in first grade.. Back to our dance form, the one we lust after that is from Mediterranean and Middle eastern countries. Knowing the history, where it comes from and who does it, is more important.. knowing some of the language would be great. The words in the dance, what they really mean when translated.. I can say no in 4 languages..
