Not sure if you have seen the Chef Pete Evans vs Susie Burrell - Dietitian/Nutritionist little online quarrel of late.. (well its not really a quarrel, more of a slight dig at each other). Essentially Pete is very pro-paleo and is leading an enthused campaign to educate general population about the benefits of leading a Paleo lifestyle and unfortunately he is being slammed by the Dietetics Association for this so-called dangerous and extreme fad diet (Essentially Paleo promotes loads of vegetables, meats and real foods - however there are varying degrees of restriction depending on how hardcore the person is). On the flip side, Susie is doing what Dieticians do, and based on her training is also trying to educate general population about healthy food choices (which sometimes includes the promotion of non-foods such as Up and Go drinks, or packaged products). Im also going to include @sarahwilson here with her no sugar; campaign (shes all about removing all processed sugars and replacing them with healthier alternatives)… They are all passionate and believe in their message which I think is awesome, however all it is doing is making it waaayyy more confusing for general public. Im sure there are a lot of people going WTF? What am I supposed to eat then? Im not pro any particular diet methodology however I think the essentials of any life long healthy diet is going to consist of loads of plant based vegetables, high quality red and white meat, fish, dairy if you love it and can tolerate it, wine (of course), and whatever extras you have along the way. Keep the food as real as possible, and know what works for your body. Does nutrition really have to be as complicated as they are all making it out to be? Lets make it simple for people to make good food choices! Ok, thats my Friday thought, and it is now officially wine oclock (thank god vino is Paleo!)
