Not sure just how this will sound or how people will react, but I dont care. Its time to vent the spleen. It takes a tremendous amount of commitment to be a stallholder going to markets. I know as I have been doing it for the last 7 years, and enough is enough. We have sooo many things that can go against us, ie. weather etc, etc. I try to look for a market that will suit my product and hopefully allow me to make a decent amount of money for the work I put into the production of it along with covering my costs and hopefully have some left over. When i find a market that I think will suit I make a commitment to that market and where I do everything in my power to support it and turn up each market day. If I cant make it for some reason, I contact the market organizer and offer an explanation etc. I am finding it very annoying at the moment that the organizer promotes each of their stallholders at their next market and then the morning arrives but the stallholders DONT. NO PHONE CALLS, NO CONTACT OF APOLOGY, NOT EVEN ANSWERING THEIR PHONES, NO COURTESY IN ANYTHING, NOTHING. If by ANY chance the stallholders can be contacted the excuses are usually that they forgot there was a market on, or they slept in and were too tired to come etc etc etc. I also am aware that you can have family emergencies happen over night etc and these are excusable, but, the rest of the excuses are endless. Why the hell do they bother to sign up for a market if they really cant make that commitment. It isnt much fun having the public arrive to support a you beaut market and find only half the stalls that were advertised. People drive by and see something happening but because there isnt many stalls they keep going because it isnt worth getting out and having a look. This is bloody hard for all of us that DO go to the trouble of turning up. We are being punished because of the actions of others that have no consideration of other peoples feelings. The actions of some have a far reaching effect on others. These are also the ones who would be the first to complain if we did this to them. If you cant be bothered to show up on the day you say or let someone know, then dont ruin it for the ones who CAN be bothered. I have tried hard to keep this as clean as I could. Thank You.
