Not sure why I did this but last year when our Newfy passed away - TopicsExpress

Not sure why I did this but last year when our Newfy passed away after almost 14 years being with our family I dug up his records and got the name of the man that we got him from about 45 minutes from where I live now. Newfy was chained to a tree out front with a box and a crate with FREE on it. The man said he was wild and chewed everything up. We fell in love with him and took him and my son made a promise to the little boy who was crying to take care of him the rest of his life. Anyway, months ago I called a number I thought was the previous owner after checking the internet and this morning I got a call from them. They were shocked to say the least, I told them I just felt the need to tell them that he had a wonderful life with us and we had made a promise to the little boy (who is probably about 25 now) to let him know he was fine and lived a wonderful life. The man almost started crying, he said he had often wondered about him, I tried not to be rude, but then he told me how he got Newfy. He lives in Va. and was visiting Dolphin Island in Alabama and for 2 weeks saw Newfy and this other dog were running stray, hungry, playful and no tags. He said at the end of the vacation, he could not leave them so he got them in the car and took them home to Virginia with the hopes to keep them. The other one went to a friend, but they could not handle Newfy and his wild ways! We laughed and cried together. I told him that dog chewed everything in our house till he was about 8! He told me about the ride home from Alabama to Virgina with these two stray dogs, Newfy got in a fight with the other one cause they fed him out of the same bowl and Newfy was an Alpha! We talked and talked and he thanked me and I thanked him. We both have closure. I think he needed it and I know I did. We loved him and miss him and were proud to be blessed with him. Fate has a way of finding you.....
