Not that any of us are wanting to admit it but winter is here and its cold! Just as you take precautions for staying warm you should also be thinking about protecting your eyes during these chilly days. Here are a few tips to help you be prepared: 1. Try to keep your eyes moist. Whether the heat or air is coming from the warmth of a fire or the vents in your car, this airflow can cause dry and irritated eyes. We suggest not having the car vents pointing directly at your face, use a humidifier when possible and do not hesitate to use artificial tears. 2. Wear sunglasses with UV protection. The sun can be more damaging to your eyes in the winter than in the summer, light can reflect off the snow into your eyes. Using sunglasses that protect from both UVA and UVB rays is the way to go. 3. Us protective eye wear such as goggles or a ski mask to stop the sun’s rays and to stop anything from getting into your eyes. Whether you’re in the middle of a snowball fight or doing some downhill skiing there is a chance something small or large could get into your eye.
